Desi tricks: How to increase your breastmilk supply?

Breastfeeding is now emphasized to be so important for the baby. Not only for his or her development, but also for the baby mother bond. Its just so special. Now that I just recently stopped feeding, I miss it.

In the beginning, I was very worried that I was not producing much. My friends all insisted I buy Milkmaids Tea – tea that increased my production. However I found that the indian remedies my mom gave me, helped increase my production to the point where I wanted to explode.

Here are some breastmilk increasing tips:

Traditional old school remedy tea (Milkmaid tea-dest style):

In a large pot of water, boil 2 tbsp of saunf (fennel seeds), 2 tbsp Ajwain (caraway seeds), cinnamon sticks (however much you want), crushed elaichi (cardamom), Kali (large black elaichi), 2 tbsp methre (fenugreek seeds) for about 30 min to 1 hr. Let it cool, pour in water bottles, refrigerate, and sip on through the day, all day, every day

Jeera Paronti:

For some reason, Jeera (cumin) parontay did wonders in  increasing my supply. My mother or after she left, I would make 5-10 at a time and place them in the fridge or freezer. Eat one heated up with some yogurt, and within minutes I was hurting and so ready to pump. It worked like magic.
Parontay are fried indian bread, made with wheat flour, water, oil, and any sort of filling.

Hot showers and warm compresses also help increase production. Take whenever needed!

  • Water
  • Oatmeal
  • Garlic
  • Carrots
  • Fennel
  • Papaya
  • Nuts
  • Sesame Seeds
  • Ginger
